How TIME Chose Its Fall 2024 Class of Next Generation Leaders

in International
Reading Time: 3 mins read

For nearly a decade, our Next Generation Leaders franchise has been dedicated to sharing the stories of trailblazers who are shaping our future. These individuals have defied the odds, broken barriers, and inspired others to reach for their dreams. Through their determination, resilience, and innovative thinking, they have become true leaders in their fields and have left a lasting impact on our world.

At Next Generation Leaders, we believe that the future belongs to those who are willing to take risks, challenge the status quo, and push the boundaries of what is possible. That is why we have made it our mission to shine a spotlight on the incredible individuals who are doing just that. From entrepreneurs and activists to scientists and artists, our franchise has featured a diverse range of leaders who are making a difference in their communities and beyond.

One of the key reasons why our Next Generation Leaders franchise has been so successful is because we are not just telling stories, we are sharing journeys. Each of our featured leaders has faced their own unique set of challenges and obstacles, but they have all persevered and achieved success in their own way. By sharing their stories, we hope to inspire others to do the same and to show that anything is possible with hard work, determination, and a little bit of courage.

One of our most memorable Next Generation Leaders is Malala Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel Peace Prize laureate. At just 11 years old, Malala began speaking out against the Taliban’s ban on girls’ education in her home country of Pakistan. Despite facing death threats and a brutal attack, she continued to advocate for the right to education for all children. Today, Malala is a global icon for education and has founded the Malala Fund, which works to ensure every girl has access to 12 years of free, safe, and quality education.

Another inspiring leader we have featured is Greta Thunberg, the 18-year-old climate activist who has captured the world’s attention with her powerful speeches and school strikes. Greta’s passion for the environment and her unwavering determination to hold world leaders accountable for their actions have sparked a global movement for climate action. She has become a symbol of hope for the younger generation and a force to be reckoned with in the fight against climate change.

But our Next Generation Leaders franchise is not just about highlighting the achievements of well-known figures. We also strive to showcase the stories of everyday heroes who are making a difference in their communities. One such leader is 17-year-old Marley Dias, who started the #1000BlackGirlBooks campaign to promote diversity in literature. Marley’s campaign has collected over 12,000 books featuring black female protagonists and has inspired a movement to increase representation in children’s literature.

Through our franchise, we have also featured leaders who are using technology to create positive change. Take 19-year-old Samaira Mehta, for example, who at the age of 8, created a board game to teach kids how to code. Her game, CoderBunnyz, has since been used in schools across the US and has even caught the attention of tech giants like Google and Microsoft. Samaira’s passion for coding and her desire to make it accessible to all children is truly inspiring.

These are just a few of the many incredible leaders we have had the privilege of featuring in our Next Generation Leaders franchise. Each one of them has a unique story to tell, but they all share a common thread – the courage to dream big and the determination to turn those dreams into reality. They are proof that age, gender, or background should never be a barrier to achieving greatness.

As we continue to share the stories of these remarkable individuals, we hope to inspire the next generation of leaders to step up and make a difference in the world. We believe that everyone has the potential to be a leader, and it is our mission to help them realize that potential. So, to all the trailblazers out there, keep pushing boundaries, breaking barriers, and shaping our future. We are here to share your stories and to support you every step of the way. Together, we can create a better tomorrow for all.
