The Indian Premier League (IPL) has always been a platform for young and talented cricketers to showcase their skills and make a name for themselves. And on the night of the match between the Gujarat Titans (GT) and the Punjab Kings (PBKS), it was none other than Shreyas Iyer who stole the show with his sublime form and powerful batting.

The 2025 edition of the IPL has been nothing short of spectacular, with some of the best players from around the world coming together to battle it out on the field. And in this highly competitive environment, Shreyas Iyer has emerged as a true champion, leading his team to victory with his exceptional batting skills.

On the night of the match, Shreyas Iyer was in a league of his own, hitting five fours and nine sixes en route to his impressive score of 97. It was a display of pure class and determination, as he took on the opposition bowlers with ease and precision. His shots were a treat to watch, and the crowd was on their feet, cheering for their hero.

But what caught everyone’s attention was the fact that Shreyas Iyer fell just three runs short of a well-deserved century. Many believed that he was robbed of a century by his teammate Shashank Singh, who came in to bat after him. However, Shashank has come out to clarify that he did not intentionally deny Shreyas Iyer of his century.

In an exclusive interview with Inside Sport India, Shashank revealed that Shreyas had actually told him to not worry about it and focus on scoring runs for the team. He said, “Shreyas is a great team player and he always puts the team’s interest above his personal milestones. He told me to just play my natural game and not worry about his century. He wanted us to win the match, and that’s what we did.”

This statement by Shashank speaks volumes about the camaraderie and team spirit within the Gujarat Titans. It is heartening to see that the players are not only focused on their individual performances but also on the team’s success. This is what makes the IPL such a special tournament, where players from different backgrounds come together to form a cohesive unit and play for each other.

Shreyas Iyer’s innings may have ended just three runs short of a century, but his contribution to the team’s victory cannot be overlooked. He played a crucial role in setting up a challenging total for the opposition and also led the team with his tactical acumen on the field. His performance has once again proved why he is considered as one of the most promising young talents in Indian cricket.

As the IPL 2025 continues to unfold, we can expect to see more such exceptional performances from Shreyas Iyer and other talented players. The future of Indian cricket looks bright, and with players like Shreyas leading the way, we can be assured of many more memorable moments in the years to come.

In conclusion, Shreyas Iyer’s innings of 97 against PBKS was a testament to his skill, determination, and selflessness. He may have missed out on a century, but his team’s victory and his own contribution to it will be remembered for a long time. The Gujarat Titans have a true leader in Shreyas Iyer, and his performance on the field has once again proved that he is a force to be reckoned with in the world of cricket.
