Iran’s President Rejects Direct Negotiations with US over Nuclear Program

In a recent statement, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced that the Islamic Republic has rejected any possibility of direct negotiations with the United States over its nuclear program. This decision comes at a critical time as tensions between the two countries have escalated after the US withdrew from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

President Rouhani firmly stated that Iran will not succumb to any pressure or demands for direct talks with the US, emphasizing that the Islamic Republic is more than capable of handling its nuclear program without any interference. He also stressed that the Trump administration has shown time and time again its lack of commitment towards international agreements and treaties.

This decision by Iran’s President is a clear message to the US that the diplomatic channel is not open for negotiations. It reflects the country’s strong stance against the blatant disregard for international laws and agreements by the US government.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), commonly known as the Iran nuclear deal, was signed in 2015 between Iran and the P5+1 countries (US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany). Under the deal, Iran agreed to limit its nuclear activities in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions imposed by the US and the international community. However, in 2018, the US abruptly withdrew from the JCPOA and reimposed crippling sanctions on Iran, causing significant harm to the Iranian economy.

President Rouhani’s rejection of direct negotiations with the US is a testament to Iran’s commitment to upholding the terms of the nuclear deal despite the US’s withdrawal. It also highlights the country’s unwavering determination to protect its sovereignty and national interests.

The US has been exerting pressure on Iran to renegotiate the nuclear deal, claiming that the current agreement does not address Iran’s alleged support for terrorism and its ballistic missile program. However, Iran has continuously denied these accusations and maintains that its nuclear program is strictly for peaceful purposes.

President Rouhani has made it clear that Iran’s nuclear program is non-negotiable, and the country will not succumb to any form of pressure or intimidation. He also urged the remaining parties to the JCPOA to fulfill their commitments and take necessary measures to protect Iran’s interests in light of the US’s unilateral withdrawal.

This latest development in the US-Iran relationship comes at a time when tensions are already high after the US imposed new sanctions on Iran’s oil exports and designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. The US’s actions have been met with strong condemnation from the international community, with many countries expressing their support for Iran and calling for the US to reconsider its aggressive stance.

Iran’s decision to reject direct negotiations with the US reflects the country’s determination to stand firm in the face of mounting pressure. It also sends a clear message to the US and the rest of the world that Iran will not be intimidated or coerced into changing its policies and actions.

In conclusion, President Rouhani’s rejection of direct negotiations with the US over its nuclear program is a bold and principled decision. It demonstrates Iran’s commitment to upholding the JCPOA and its determination to protect its sovereignty and national interests. As the US continues to pursue its aggressive policies towards Iran, the international community must take a firm stance and support Iran’s right to defend itself against unjust actions. It is time for all parties involved to come together in a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect to find a peaceful resolution to this ongoing conflict.
