Marco Rubio Is Attacking American Education. International Students Are His Pawns.

The United States has long been known as a land of opportunity, a place where individuals from all over the world can come to pursue their dreams and receive a top-notch education. However, recent actions by the Trump administration suggest that this may no longer be the case. In fact, it seems that the current administration is actively working towards the destruction of the American college system, with international students being used as mere pawns in their game.

The Trump administration has made it clear that they do not support a protectionist college system. In other words, they do not want to prioritize the education and well-being of American students over that of international students. Instead, they seem to be pushing for a system that will ultimately harm both groups.

One of the key players in this attack on American education is Senator Marco Rubio. The Florida senator has been a vocal advocate for reducing the number of international students in the US. In a recent interview, he stated that “the goal of our higher education system should be to prepare Americans for the jobs of the future.” While this may seem like a reasonable statement, it ignores the fact that international students bring a wealth of diversity and talent to our universities, and ultimately contribute to the growth and success of our nation.

Rubio’s latest move in this campaign against international students is a proposed bill that would limit the number of visas available to students from certain countries, including China. This would have a devastating impact on the American college system, as Chinese students make up the largest group of international students in the US. Not only would this result in a loss of diversity on our campuses, but it would also have serious financial implications for universities, as international students pay significantly higher tuition fees than their American counterparts.

But perhaps the most concerning aspect of Rubio’s bill is that it would also limit the number of visas available for Chinese students studying in fields related to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). This is a blatant attack on the US’s position as a global leader in these fields. By limiting the number of international students studying in these areas, we are essentially hindering our own progress and development.

It’s clear that Senator Rubio’s actions are not driven by a genuine concern for American students or the future of our nation. Instead, he is using international students as a scapegoat for larger issues within the American education system. Rather than addressing these issues and finding solutions, he is choosing to target a group of individuals who have come to the US with the sole purpose of bettering themselves and contributing to our society.

It’s not just Senator Rubio who is to blame for this attack on international students. The Trump administration’s policies, such as the travel ban and stricter visa regulations, have also made it increasingly difficult for international students to study in the US. This has resulted in a decline in the number of international students choosing to come to the US, which not only impacts our universities but also our economy.

International students not only bring diversity and talent to our universities, but they also contribute significantly to our economy. According to a report by NAFSA: Association of International Educators, international students contributed $41 billion to the US economy and supported over 458,000 jobs during the 2018-2019 academic year. By limiting their presence in our universities, we are not only hindering the growth and success of our institutions but also our economy as a whole.

It’s time for the Trump administration and Senator Rubio to realize the value and importance of international students in the American education system. Instead of targeting them, we should be welcoming them with open arms and providing them with the support and opportunities they need to succeed. It’s not a competition between American students and international students – it’s about creating a diverse and inclusive environment that benefits everyone.

In conclusion, the Trump administration’s actions and Senator Rubio’s proposed bill are not in the best interest of American education. They are driven by a misguided and harmful agenda that will ultimately harm both American and international students. It’s time for our leaders to prioritize the value of education and diversity and work towards creating a better future for all. Let’s not let international students become mere pawns in their destructive game.
