Coachella in legal row with tiny Welsh festival over its name

in Lifestyle
Reading Time: 2 mins read

One of the biggest music festivals in the world, Coachella, has recently made headlines for causing a small Welsh festival to change its name. The festival, formerly known as the ‘H-Factor’ has now been forced to rebrand itself as the ‘H-Fest’ due to legal reasons. One of the members of popular 90s band, Steps, H, has spoken out about this situation, calling it ‘mindblowing’ but also taking it as a ‘massive compliment’.

H, whose real name is Ian Watkins, is known for his energetic stage presence and catchy dance moves, both in Steps and as a solo artist. However, in recent years, he has also been involved in organizing and promoting the H-Factor festival in his hometown of Pontypridd, Wales. The festival, which has been going on for 5 years now, has gained a loyal following and has become a highlight for music lovers in the area.

However, all of this changed when the organizers of Coachella sent a cease and desist letter to the festival, claiming that the name ‘H-Factor’ was too similar to their own festival’s name. This left H and his team with no choice but to change the name of their beloved festival. But instead of being disheartened by this turn of events, H sees it as a ‘massive compliment’.

In an exclusive interview with a leading music magazine, H expressed his thoughts on the whole situation. He said, “It’s absolutely mindblowing that a small festival like ours has caught the attention of a global event like Coachella. It just goes to show the impact we have made in our community and beyond. We may not have the same scale or budget as Coachella, but we have something special and unique in our festival.”

H also added that he and his team are not bitter about the name change, but rather are taking it as a motivation to make their festival even bigger and better. He said, “We may have to change the name, but we will not let this setback dampen our spirits. We see it as a challenge to make our festival stand out even more and prove that we are a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.”

The H-Fest, formerly known as the H-Factor, is known for showcasing upcoming and local talent, as well as established artists. The festival also has a strong community aspect, with proceeds from ticket sales going towards supporting local charities and organizations. H believes that this aspect of their festival has played a major role in gaining recognition and support from their community.

With the festival just a few months away, H and his team are working tirelessly to make sure that this year’s edition will be a memorable one. They have even managed to secure a few big names in the music industry to perform at the festival, which H believes will attract even more attention to their event.

Despite the name change, the spirit and essence of the festival will remain the same. H and his team are determined to continue providing a platform for talented musicians and give back to the community that has supported them from the beginning.

In conclusion, while the name change may have been unexpected, H and his team are taking it as a positive impact on their festival. They are grateful for the recognition they have received from Coachella and are determined to make this year’s H-Fest the most successful one yet. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the organizers and a true reflection of the vibrant music scene in Wales.
