Sacked UFC Fighter Plans Legal Action Against French MMA Federation Over Drug Test

Reading Time: 3 mins read

On May 17, 2024, the MMA world was buzzing with excitement as former UFC fighter Patchy Mix stepped into the ring for his highly anticipated rematch against Magomed Magomedov at Bellator Champions Series 2. The two fighters had previously faced off in a thrilling showdown, with Mix emerging as the victor. However, this time around, the stakes were even higher as the winner would be crowned the new Bellator bantamweight champion.

The fight lived up to its hype, with both fighters putting on a show for the fans. Mix, known for his impressive grappling skills, dominated the first two rounds with his takedowns and ground control. Magomedov, on the other hand, relied on his striking abilities and managed to land some heavy shots in the third round. But it was Mix who ultimately emerged victorious, winning by unanimous decision.

The American fighter was ecstatic with his win and celebrated with his team and fans. However, his joy was short-lived as news broke that the French commission had overturned the result of the fight. The reason? Mix had failed a drug test.

The news came as a shock to many, especially considering Mix’s reputation as a clean fighter. He had never failed a drug test before and had always been an advocate for clean sport. So, what went wrong this time?

According to Mix, it was a case of contaminated supplements. He had been taking a new brand of supplements that he had received from a trusted source. Little did he know that these supplements were tainted with a banned substance. Mix had no idea that he was consuming a banned substance and was devastated when he found out the truth.

The French MMA Federation, however, did not take his explanation into consideration and stripped him of his win and the Bellator bantamweight title. This decision not only cost Mix his victory but also his reputation as a fighter. He was now labeled as a cheater and faced the possibility of being banned from the sport.

But Mix is not one to back down without a fight. He plans to take legal action against the French MMA Federation and clear his name. He believes that he has been wronged and wants to prove his innocence.

In a statement released by his team, Mix said, “I have always been a clean fighter and have never intentionally taken any banned substance. I will do everything in my power to prove my innocence and get my victory back. I owe it to my fans, my team, and myself to fight for what is right.”

The MMA community has rallied behind Mix, showing their support and belief in his innocence. Many have also criticized the French commission for their decision, stating that they should have given Mix the benefit of the doubt and investigated the matter further before making a judgment.

The incident has once again highlighted the issue of contaminated supplements in sports. Many athletes have fallen victim to this, unknowingly consuming banned substances through their supplements. It is a serious problem that needs to be addressed by the governing bodies of sports.

Mix’s case also raises questions about the fairness of drug testing in MMA. With different commissions having different rules and regulations, there is a need for a standardized system to ensure that all fighters are held to the same standards.

As for Mix, he remains determined to fight for his rights and clear his name. He is confident that justice will prevail, and he will be able to return to the sport he loves with his head held high.

In conclusion, the incident may have tainted Patchy Mix’s victory, but it has not dimmed his spirit. He remains a true warrior, both inside and outside the ring, and is determined to fight for what is right. The MMA community stands behind him, and we can only hope that justice will be served, and Mix will be able to continue his journey as a clean and respected fighter.
