Why Rueben Bain Jr.’s Arm Length Is a Non-Issue in the NFL

Reading Time: 2 mins read

One of the most talked about topics in the lead up to the NFL draft is the arm length of Miami defensive end Rueben Bain Jr. Measuring in at the combine with an arm length of 30 ⅞, many have raised concerns over whether this will impact his performance in the NFL. However, there is no need to worry as Bain’s arm length is not as big of an issue as some may think.

For those who may not be familiar with the NFL combine, it is an annual event where college football players showcase their skills in front of NFL coaches, general managers, and scouts in hopes of being drafted to play professional football. One of the measurements taken at the combine is the arm length of players, and the typical length that teams look for is around 33 inches. However, as long as the arm length is not significantly shorter than 33 inches, it is considered to be within an acceptable range.

Bain’s arm length of 30 ⅞ inches may be slightly shorter than the average, but it is certainly not a cause for concern. In fact, there have been many successful NFL players with arm lengths similar to Bain’s or even shorter. One prime example is former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison, who had a successful career despite having an arm length of only 30 ⅝ inches. Harrison was known for his strength, speed, and relentless pursuit of the ball, proving that arm length is not the only factor in determining a player’s success.

Another important factor to consider is that Bain possesses other qualities that greatly outweigh any concerns about his arm length. Standing at 6’3″ and weighing in at 253 pounds, he has an impressive size and strength that will certainly be an advantage on the field. He also has exceptional speed and athleticism, which has been evident in his performance on the field for the Hurricanes.

Furthermore, Bain has proven himself to be a versatile player, able to play multiple positions on the defensive line. This flexibility will make him a valuable asset to any team, as he can be used in various situations and adapt to different game plans.

It is also worth noting that Bain’s arm length has not hindered his performance in college. In fact, he was a key player for the Miami Hurricanes, recording 34 tackles, 8.5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles in his senior season alone. These impressive numbers show that he is more than capable of holding his own on the football field, regardless of his arm length.

In addition to his physical abilities, Bain also possesses a strong work ethic and determination to succeed. He has shown resilience in overcoming injuries and has continued to improve and impress scouts throughout his college career. With the right coaching and training, there is no doubt that he has the potential to thrive in the NFL.

In conclusion, it is clear that Rueben Bain Jr.’s arm length should not be a cause for concern in the NFL. As history has shown, arm length is just one aspect of a player’s physical makeup, and it does not define their ability to succeed on the field. Bain’s size, strength, speed, versatility, and determination make him a valuable prospect for any team in the draft. So let’s not focus on his arm length, but rather celebrate his potential and look forward to seeing him excel in the NFL.
