Our Annual List Celebrates Wales’ LGBT+ Community Heroes

Pride Cymru, in collaboration with our team, is proud to announce our annual list of individuals who have made significant contributions to the LGBT+ community in Wales. These individuals have dedicated their time, energy, and passion to create a more inclusive and accepting society for all.

As we celebrate Pride Month, it is important to recognize and honor the achievements of those who have worked tirelessly to promote equality, diversity, and inclusivity. Our annual list is a way to shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes of the LGBT+ community in Wales and to thank them for their invaluable contributions.

The list, which is compiled through nominations and extensive research, includes individuals from various backgrounds and professions, all united by their commitment to making a positive impact on the LGBT+ community. From activists and advocates to artists and educators, these individuals have made a difference in their own unique ways.

One of the names on this year’s list is Sarah Jones, a transgender activist and founder of TransForm Cymru, an organization that provides support and resources for transgender individuals in Wales. Sarah’s tireless efforts have helped to raise awareness and understanding of transgender issues, and she has been a vocal advocate for equal rights and opportunities for the transgender community.

Another inspiring individual on our list is David Evans, a teacher and founder of the LGBT+ network at his school. David has been a champion for LGBT+ inclusion in education, creating a safe and supportive environment for students and staff alike. His dedication and passion have helped to create a more inclusive and accepting school community.

We also have the pleasure of recognizing the work of Emma Williams, a drag performer and activist who uses her platform to raise awareness and funds for various LGBT+ charities in Wales. Emma’s performances not only entertain but also educate and inspire, making a positive impact on the community.

These are just a few of the many incredible individuals on our list, each with their own unique stories and contributions. We are proud to celebrate and honor them, and we hope that their stories will inspire others to join the fight for equality and inclusivity.

But our annual list is not just about recognizing individuals; it is also about celebrating the progress that has been made in Wales towards creating a more inclusive and accepting society. We have seen significant strides in recent years, from legal recognition of same-sex marriage to the introduction of inclusive education in schools. These achievements would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of individuals and organizations within the LGBT+ community.

However, we must also acknowledge that there is still much work to be done. Discrimination and prejudice against the LGBT+ community still exist, and it is important that we continue to push for change and stand in solidarity with those who face discrimination.

As we celebrate Pride Month, let us not only celebrate how far we have come, but also use this as an opportunity to reflect on how we can continue to move forward towards a more inclusive and accepting society for all. Let us also take the time to thank and honor those who have made a difference in the LGBT+ community in Wales.

We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the individuals on our annual list, and we thank them for their unwavering commitment and dedication. Together, we can create a society where everyone is accepted and celebrated for who they are.

In the words of Harvey Milk, a pioneering LGBT+ rights activist, “Hope will never be silent.” Let us continue to hope and work towards a brighter and more inclusive future for the LGBT+ community in Wales.
