Denny Hamlin and Joe Gibbs Celebrate U.S. Veterans in Powerful JGR Ceremony

As we approach Veterans Day, the nation is preparing to honor and celebrate the brave men and women who have served in the military. On November 11th, we will come together to pay tribute to those who have selflessly dedicated their lives to protecting our country and preserving our freedom. From heartfelt school assemblies to nationwide offers like Chili’s Grill & Bar’s free meal for veterans and active-duty military members, tributes are unfolding across the country in countless ways. However, one particular tribute stands out for its powerful and emotional impact – the ceremony held by Denny Hamlin and Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR).

Denny Hamlin, a NASCAR driver for JGR, has a deep connection to the military. His father, Dennis Hamlin Sr., served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years and inspired Denny to become an advocate for veterans and their families. In 2019, Denny and JGR launched the Denny Hamlin Foundation, which focuses on supporting military families and children with special needs. This year, the foundation partnered with JGR to host a special ceremony to honor U.S. veterans.

The ceremony, which took place at the JGR headquarters in Huntersville, North Carolina, was a heartwarming and emotional event. It began with a presentation of colors by the North Mecklenburg High School JROTC Color Guard, followed by the national anthem sung by retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant, Mike Corrado. Denny Hamlin then took the stage to express his gratitude and admiration for the sacrifices made by veterans and their families. He also shared his personal connection to the military and how it has shaped his life and career.

The highlight of the ceremony was a special tribute to veterans, where Denny and JGR honored 11 U.S. veterans from different branches of the military. Each veteran was presented with a custom-made shadow box, containing a personalized race helmet and a photo of Denny’s No. 11 FedEx Toyota Camry with a special Veterans Day paint scheme. The veterans were also given a VIP experience at the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway, where Denny will be racing with the special paint scheme.

The ceremony also featured a special guest – retired U.S. Army Sergeant First Class, Dana Bowman. Dana is a veteran and double amputee who served in the U.S. Army’s elite parachute team, the Golden Knights. He is also a motivational speaker and a member of the JGR family. Dana’s presence added a powerful and inspiring element to the ceremony as he shared his story of resilience and determination in the face of adversity.

The event concluded with a heartfelt thank you from Denny and JGR to all the veterans in attendance and those watching virtually. It was a touching and emotional tribute that left a lasting impact on everyone present. Denny and JGR’s commitment to honoring and supporting veterans is truly commendable and serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by these brave men and women.

As we celebrate Veterans Day, let us not forget the sacrifices made by our veterans and their families. Let us take a moment to honor and thank them for their service and dedication to our country. And let us also remember that it is not just one day, but every day, that we should show our appreciation and support for our veterans.

In the words of Denny Hamlin, “We can never do enough for our veterans and their families, but we can always do more.” So, let us all come together and do more to support and honor our veterans, not just on Veterans Day, but every day. Thank you to all the veterans for your service and sacrifice. You are true heroes, and we are forever grateful.
