Jason Day Regrets Life Choices He Made After Injuries Almost Ruined His Golf Career

From 2015 to 2016, Jason Day was on top of the world. The Australian professional golfer dominated the PGA Tour with his incredible consistency, winning eight out of thirteen titles in just two years. He was a force to be reckoned with, and many saw him as the future of the sport. However, things took a turn for the worse, and Day’s career came to a halt. In a recent interview, he opened up about the struggles he faced during that time and the regret he feels for the choices he made that almost ruined his golf career.

Day’s rise to success was not an easy one. He was born in Queensland, Australia, and grew up in a working-class family. From a young age, he showed a natural talent for golf, and his parents worked hard to support his dream of becoming a professional golfer. Day’s journey to the top was filled with ups and downs, but he never lost sight of his goal. His hard work and determination paid off when he won his first PGA Tour event in 2010, and from there, he never looked back.

In 2015, Day’s career reached new heights. He won five times on the PGA Tour, including his first major championship at the PGA Championship. He also became the world number one, dethroning the legendary Tiger Woods. Day’s dominance continued into 2016, where he won three more titles, solidifying his position as one of the best golfers in the world. It seemed like nothing could stop him, but little did he know that his biggest challenge was yet to come.

Injuries are a common occurrence in sports, and unfortunately, Day was not immune to them. He suffered from a back injury in 2016, which caused him to miss several tournaments and affected his performance on the course. But that was just the beginning of his troubles. In 2017, Day’s mother was diagnosed with lung cancer, and he took a break from golf to be by her side. She eventually passed away in November of that year, leaving Day heartbroken and struggling to cope with his grief.

The following year, Day’s game was still not up to par, and he continued to struggle with injuries and personal issues. He fell out of the top ten in the world rankings and didn’t win a single tournament. It was a far cry from the dominant player he was just a few years ago. In his recent interview, Day admitted that he regrets some of the choices he made during that time, which he believes contributed to his downfall.

One of those choices was his decision to change his swing to accommodate his back injury. Day wanted to continue playing at the highest level and believed that altering his swing would help him do so. However, it only made matters worse, and his performance suffered as a result. He also regrets not taking enough time off to properly heal his injuries, instead of trying to push through the pain.

But perhaps the most significant regret for Day is not being mentally prepared to handle the challenges that came his way. He admits that he was not in the right state of mind to deal with his mother’s illness and passing. He was also struggling with the pressure of being a top-ranked player and the expectations that came with it. Day realized that he needed to prioritize his mental health and well-being if he wanted to get back to the top of his game.

Fortunately, Day’s struggles are now behind him, and he is back to playing the golf that made him a household name. In 2018, he won two tournaments and finished in the top 10 in several others. He also performed well at the major championships, finishing in the top 10 in three out of four events. Day is now ranked number 22 in the world, and he is determined to climb his way back to the top.

Looking back, Day knows that he could have handled things differently. But he has also learned valuable lessons from his struggles, which have made him a stronger and more resilient person. He has also found a new perspective on life, realizing that there is more to it than just golf. Day is now focused on enjoying the game and being grateful for every opportunity he gets to tee off.

In conclusion, Jason Day’s journey in the world of golf has been a rollercoaster ride. From being on top of the world to almost losing it all, he has seen it all. But his determination and resilience have brought
