‘Superman’ actress Valerie Perrine dies, aged 82

Valerie Perrine, the American actress and model, passed away on July 31st at the age of 82. The news of her death has deeply saddened the entertainment industry and her fans. Perrine’s breakthrough role came in 1974 when she starred in the biographical film ‘Lenny’. The film was based on the life of controversial stand-up comedian Lenny Bruce, and Perrine portrayed his wife, Honey Harlow. Her performance was critically acclaimed and earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role. This nomination was a testament to her talent and dedication to her craft.

Perrine continued to showcase her acting skills in various films and TV shows throughout the 1970s and 1980s. She starred alongside Marlon Brando in ‘The Missouri Breaks’ (1976) and received a Golden Globe nomination for her role in ‘Superman’ (1978) as Miss Teschmacher, the villain’s assistant. She also appeared in ‘The Electric Horseman’ (1979) alongside Robert Redford and Jane Fonda.

In the 1990s, Perrine appeared in several TV shows, including ‘The Office’ and ‘The Larry Sanders Show’. She also made guest appearances on popular shows like ‘ER’ and ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’. Her last on-screen appearance was in the 2016 drama film ‘Silver Skies’.

Perrine’s talent was not limited to acting; she was also a skilled dancer. She showcased her dancing skills in the 1978 film ‘The Wiz’ and the 1980 movie ‘Can’t Stop the Music’. She was also a part of the original cast of the Broadway musical ‘Chicago’ in 1975.

Apart from her successful acting career, Perrine was also known for her philanthropic work. She was a strong advocate for animal rights and worked closely with various organizations to promote the welfare of animals. She also supported causes related to breast cancer and HIV/AIDS.
