“I Was Lowkey Pissed Off”: Ex-Chiefs Star Calls Out Harsh Treatment Before Forced Trade to Rams

Despite their recent success as one of the top teams in the NFL, playing for the Kansas City Chiefs under head coach Andy Reid is not always a dream come true. This was especially true for one particular former Chiefs star, who despite being named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2015, found himself traded away after just two years with the team. In a recent interview, the player opened up about his experience with the Chiefs and revealed why he was “lowkey pissed off” before being forced to move on to the Los Angeles Rams.

The player in question is Marcus Peters, a talented cornerback who was drafted by the Chiefs in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft. As a rookie, Peters made an immediate impact on the field, recording five interceptions, two forced fumbles, and 8 passes defended. His stellar performance earned him the Defensive Rookie of the Year award and solidified his place as a valuable asset for the Chiefs’ defense.

However, things started to go downhill for Peters in his second year with the team. He faced several off-field issues, including getting into heated arguments with coaches and receiving multiple fines for unsportsmanlike conduct. These incidents, coupled with his declining performance on the field, led to tension between Peters and the Chiefs organization.

In the interview, Peters revealed that he was unhappy with some of the treatment he received from the team, specifically from head coach Andy Reid. He stated, “I felt disrespected a little bit in my time there, lowkey pissed off.” Peters went on to explain that he didn’t agree with everything that was being asked of him and felt that his concerns were not being heard.

This growing tension ultimately led to Peters being traded to the Los Angeles Rams in 2018. Despite the change of scenery, Peters continued to struggle, and his performance on the field was far from what it was during his rookie year. However, things turned around for him when he was traded once again to the Baltimore Ravens in 2019. Peters thrived with the Ravens, becoming a key player in their defense and helping them reach the playoffs.

Looking back, Peters acknowledges that the trade to the Rams was ultimately a blessing in disguise. He stated, “I didn’t know what was going on, but I’m glad I’m here now.” The change of environment allowed Peters to flourish and showcase his true potential as a top-tier cornerback in the league.

Peters’ experience with the Chiefs serves as a reminder that playing for a successful team under a well-respected coach like Reid may not be the right fit for everyone. Despite the initial success that Peters experienced with the Chiefs, ultimately, the situation was not one that he was happy with. However, his perseverance and determination to prove himself after being traded not once but twice, speak volumes about his character and talent as a player.

In the end, Peters’ story is a testament to the fact that sometimes, a change of scenery can be exactly what a player needs to reach their full potential. It also highlights the importance of communication and understanding between players and coaches to create a positive and harmonious environment within a team.

Despite his rocky experience with the Chiefs, Peters has nothing but gratitude for his time with the team. He acknowledges that it was a learning experience and a crucial part of his journey in the NFL. As for the Chiefs, their success on the field continues, but it serves as a reminder that even successful teams face challenges and make tough decisions in order to maintain their winning ways.

In the end, Peters’ journey from the Chiefs to the Rams and now the Ravens is a story of resilience and determination. It serves as a reminder to never give up, even when faced with difficult circumstances. Peters’ story is an inspiration to all aspiring football players, showing that success is not always achieved in a straight line, but with hard work, anything is possible.
