Governor Mara Lezama was a guest at the XV Congress of the Confederation of Autonomous Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM), where Claudia Sheinbaum, National Coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Fourth Transformation, was also in attendance.
At the event in Mexico City, the Governor of Quintana Roo reiterated her strong support for Claudia Sheinbaum and emphasized their collaborative efforts, joining her at the head table alongside other officials, including Morena leader Mario Delgado.
The CATEM congress serves as a forum for discussions with union representatives to improve working conditions for employees, particularly those from Quintana Roo.
Founded 15 years ago, this union now boasts about 7 million members across 1,192 labor organizations in various industries.
Pedro Haces, the union leader, expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you, Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum, for taking time from your busy schedule. You first governed my hometown, Tlálpan, which I am proud of, and then you governed this city. Soon, you will see what happens. A first-class woman, thank you, dear friend.”
In response, Sheinbaum formally announced the creation of a coalition with the workers’ union.
“Next Monday, we will officially begin the process of my presidential campaign, and I invite all of you to join us. I promise the workers that we will continue to defend their wages and benefits because we know that when workers succeed, businesses and Mexico thrive.”
