On November 15th, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo participated in the XV National Ordinary Congress of the Autonomous Confederation of Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM), where she celebrated the unity among the members of this organization and her own project. The former Chief of Government of Mexico City expressed her support for the inclusion of various sectors of society in view of the 2024 elections.
During the event, Sheinbaum emphasized the importance of the well-being of workers, as this translates into a more prosperous country, which was applauded by those present. Additionally, they rallied around her days before her official registration as a pre-candidate for the presidency.
Sheinbaum also swore in the first Labor Committees of the Fourth Transformation Defense of CATEM, which will be established in a number of 10,000. These committees aim to ensure that workers have a dignified life, and to achieve this, the collaboration of entrepreneurs is needed, who have supported President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his motto “For the good of all, first the poor”.
At the congress, Senator and former presidential aspirant Ricardo Monreal, who has joined Sheinbaum’s project, was present. Monreal reaffirmed Sheinbaum’s call to maintain a good relationship with workers to ensure more labor rights.
Pedro Haces Barba, Senator and General Secretary of CATEM, highlighted the importance of the current moment in the country and ratified his support for Sheinbaum to continue with the Fourth Transformation.
The XV National Ordinary Congress of CATEM was also attended by the president of Morena, Mario Delgado Carrillo, and several governors, including Mara Ledezma, Marina del Pilar Ávila, Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, Miguel Navarro, and Sergio Salomón.
In addition to participating in the CATEM congress, both Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Mario Delgado Carrillo boasted on social media of having led a meeting with the nine candidates selected by the party for various federal entities. This first official meeting aimed to strengthen the Morena movement in preparation for the elections on June 2nd.
