The Unintentional Rise of Sneaker Heels: A Comfortable and Stylish Fusion

When Sara Blakely, the inventor of world-renowned Spanx, ventured into the shoe industry, she had one goal in mind – to create the world’s most comfortable high heels. Little did she know that her innovative mission would lead to the accidental rise of sneaker heels.

According to a Sneex brand representative, Blakely did not intend to create a sneaker heel. She simply wanted to combine fashion with functionality and provide women with height and wearability without compromising on comfort. And thus, the revolution of sneaker heels began.

In just one year, Sneex has already taken the market by storm. The Tepper in Silver, priced at $595, sold out within 24 hours of its launch and garnered an impressive 11,000-person waitlist. One-third of the brand’s customers have already invested in a second pair, and the trend has been spotted on celebrities like Jane Fonda, Sofía Vergara, Reese Witherspoon, and Suki Waterhouse. It’s safe to say that the demand for sneaker heels is only going to grow in the coming years.

What sets Sneex apart from traditional heels is their meticulous design process. Blakely’s eight-year journey to create the perfect shoe resulted in a fusion of equal weight distribution, a wider toe box, and a smaller gap between the foot and sole for stability. And the best part? These features don’t compromise on style at all.

For the Spring 2025 collection, Sneex has released two new colorways – The Blake in Lavender and The Icon in Sand. As a fashion enthusiast, I was curious to see how these shoes would fit into my wardrobe. And let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised.

I stepped into The Icon in Sand on a lovely spring day and discovered the most comfortable heeled walking shoes I’d ever worn. The wider toe box and 50/50 weight distribution provided me with the perfect balance of comfort and style. As I walked, I could feel a noticeable bounce in my steps, making wearing high heels a fun experience – something I thought was impossible.

But what about styling these unique shoes? I found that Sneex seamlessly blends with a variety of outfits. They added a sporty twist to a casual Friday look with jeans for the office, and added a touch of eccentricity to a retro-inspired weekend brunch outfit. And the best part? I tried them with and without socks and experienced no discomfort, slippage, or blisters – a rare occurrence with traditional heels.

However, it’s important to note that Sneex only go up to a size 11 and do not offer half sizes. But don’t let that discourage you. The brand has provided a size guide on their website, suggesting sizing down to the next whole size if in-between sizes. As someone who’s typically a 6.5, I found that the size 7 worked better for me.

Another factor to consider is the aesthetic of these heels. They lean more towards a sporty-casual style than fancy-elegant, making them an ideal option for casual settings rather than formal events. And while the price point may seem steep, ranging from $395 to $595, the quality and comfort make it worth the investment. Plus, the versatility of these shoes speaks for itself.

If you’re looking to invest in a pair of Sneex, you can purchase them directly from the brand’s website. Other similar shoe silhouettes currently on the market include the Steve Madden Model, Untitlab Black Lace Up Heel Sneakers, Bershka High-Heel Slingback Soccer Shoes, and Jeffrey Campbell Rally Up Statement Pump.

In conclusion, Sneex has unintentionally changed the shoe game with their comfortable and stylish fusion of heels and sneakers. They have proven that women can have both fashion and functionality in their shoes, and I, for one, am excited to see where this trend will go in the future. So, why not join the Sneex revolution and give your feet the comfort they deserve?
