NASCAR Dover Throwback: When Kyle Busch’s Ruthless Move Left Chase Elliott Inconsolable at Monster Mile

Reading Time: 3 mins read

Prime Kyle Busch was a time in NASCAR that fans will never forget. The controversial driver, known as “Rowdy”, regularly arrived at tracks to a chorus of boos during driver introductions. His brash demeanor and aggressive driving style often made him the villain of the sport, but there was no denying his talent on the track.

Busch’s rise to fame in NASCAR was a swift one. He made his debut in the Cup Series in 2004 at just 19 years old, and by 2008, he had already won his first championship. With his young age and undeniable skill, Busch quickly became a fan favorite. However, it wasn’t long before his actions on and off the track started to rub people the wrong way.

One of the main reasons for the fans’ disdain towards Busch was his aggressive driving style. He was not afraid to make bold moves and take risks, often resulting in heated on-track incidents with other drivers. But for Busch, winning was all that mattered. He was determined to be the best, and he would do whatever it took to get there.

His ruthless attitude extended beyond the track as well. Busch was known for his blunt and sometimes controversial interviews, where he didn’t hold back his opinions. This often rubbed fans and fellow drivers the wrong way, earning him the reputation of NASCAR’s black hat.

But despite the negative attention, Busch continued to dominate on the track. He won multiple races and championships, solidifying his place as one of the top drivers in the sport. And in 2015, he achieved a feat that no other driver had accomplished in NASCAR history – winning all three national series races in one weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway.

However, it was a race at Dover International Speedway in 2017 that would forever change the way fans viewed Kyle Busch. It was the second race of the playoffs, and Busch was battling for the lead with Chase Elliott in the closing laps. As they approached turn three, Busch made a bold move to pass Elliott, causing the two to make contact and spin out.

The move was deemed controversial by many, and fans were quick to criticize Busch for his aggressive driving once again. But what happened after the race was what truly showed Busch’s character. As Elliott’s car sat on the track, his emotions got the best of him, and he couldn’t hold back his tears. Busch, who had just won the race, immediately went to Elliott’s car to console him.

In that moment, Busch showed a side of himself that many had never seen before. He showed compassion and empathy towards his competitor, putting aside their on-track rivalry. It was a moment that left fans in awe and changed their perception of Busch.

Since then, Busch has continued to be a dominant force in NASCAR, but he has also shown a softer side. He has become more open with fans and has even started a charity foundation to give back to the community. He has also become a mentor to young drivers, passing on his knowledge and experience to the next generation.

Today, Kyle Busch is no longer just the villain of NASCAR. He has earned the respect and admiration of fans and fellow drivers alike. His talent and determination on the track are undeniable, but it is his growth as a person that truly sets him apart.

In the end, Prime Kyle Busch may have been a time of controversy and criticism, but it was also a time of growth and redemption. And as fans look back on his career, they will remember not just the wins and championships, but also the moments that showed the true character of Kyle Busch.
